From Overwhelmed to Organized: 5 Social Media Tips for Wellness Business Owners

If consistently posting on social media for your wellness business feels like another thing on your endless to-do list, you are not alone. It can be overwhelming to come up with content ideas and strategies that will captivate your audience. Many wellness professionals feel paralyzed by the pressure to be “everywhere at once.” How do you stand out in such a crowded online space? How do you foster a sense of community and build trust? Let’s take a look at some social media tips that can help you get organized, simplify your strategy, and help you gain control over your busy months.

Common Social Media Stressors To Avoid

Take a moment to identify the social media stressors that affect you. Whatever is causing you feelings of overwhelm in your social media strategy is what is holding you back from taking action. Once you identify them, you can find ways to shift your mindset and take action. Some common social media stressors people often list are:

“I don’t know what to post.”

“I can’t keep up with social media trends.”

“I don’t have the time.”

If this sounds like you, what steps can you implement to make the time to post? Are you willing to seek help in forming a content strategy and researching the trends? The additional tips in this guide will also help you formulate a plan for success.

Start With One Platform – And Master It

If posting on multiple social media platforms is too overwhelming for now, focus on just one. It’s best to choose the platform that best suits your target audience. Do you know which social media platform your target market uses? For wellness businesses, the best social media platforms are usually Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. However, your particular target market may prefer TikTok or LinkedIn. It’s a good strategy to master and focus on one platform where you will find your target audience.

Less is more when you are just starting with your social media strategy. Once you master one platform, you can always add on another platform and repurpose your content accordingly.

Build A Simple Weekly Content System

Focus on the three pillars of content: educate, engage, and promote. To educate, consider posting how-to guides, tutorials, and expert analysis of topics that interest your audience. Engage with your audience by posting polls, quizzes, or just asking questions to encourage them to interact with you. Promote your brand’s products or services periodically, without making it sound too focused on sales.

Create a simple weekly content calendar that allows you to batch your content and save time. An example would look something like this:

  • Monday – Post an educational blog to your website. Then, post a social media teaser encouraging your followers to read the blog. Ask thought-provoking questions related to the topic of the blog, and include the link to your blog post.
  • Tuesday – Post a morning inspirational quote to your social media. Post an afternoon/evening wellness tip on your social media platform.
  • Wednesday – Post an “ask me anything” or Q&A type content. Later that day, post an educational video about your wellness services or products.
  • Thursday – Post a client success story or testimonial. Later that day, post a recommendation on a book, podcast, app, or tool that helps you and your clients with their wellness journey.
  • Friday – Send out your weekly newsletter recapping the week’s content, offering wellness tips, and promoting your latest product or service. Encourage your readers to check out your latest social media posts. Later that day, post an interactive question or poll on your social media platform.
  • Weekend – Take time to rest and plan your upcoming week’s content.

Tools And Templates To Streamline Your Workflow

Create, plan, and schedule your social media content on Canva for a fast and easy-to-use format. You can use Meta Scheduler if you are posting to Facebook or Instagram. Find reusable templates and caption formulas to make posting a breeze. Aim to create a 30-minute content workflow and set a daily time block on your calendar so you won’t forget or get too busy to do it.

When And How To Get Help

It’s ok to seek help with your social media. If you find yourself posting inconsistently, lacking in engagement, or feeling burned out, it may be time to move on from your DIY content strategy. Even just a few hours per month of support from a Social Media Manager can help relieve a lot of pressure.

A Social Media Manager can take on the task of posting to your social media platform, respond to comments and questions on your posts for engagement, and so much more. Together, you can come up with a content strategy that works for you, allowing you to focus more on serving your clients.

Remember, you don’t have to do it all! Just do what’s sustainable. Start simple, stay consistent, and build from there.
